Feeling down? More depressed lately? Relationships are suffering? Little motivation? Well your chakras could be blocked!

The seven chakras are the centers in our bodies in which energy flows through.

Blocked energy in our seven chakras can often lead to illness.

What are our Chakras:

1. Muladhara Chakra-Root Chakra

The first chakra is where the Kundalini energy lies. This is our most physical chakra and represents being grounded. When this chakra is out of balance, we are often struggling financially. When this chakra is in balance, you feel secure and calm.

Healing:

  • Stomping your bare feet on the ground. Remember, the Root Chakra is all about feeling "grounded."

  • Bridge Pose

  • Eat red colored food, beets, apples, Tabasco sauce and cayenne pepper.

2. Sacral Chakra

The second chakra is the center of creativity and sexuality. When this chakra is out of balance you can experience jealousy, anger, increased sex drive and codependency. When this chakra is in balance, you have the ability to connect and accept others.

Healing:

  • Pelvic thrusts

  • Cobra Yoga Pose

  • Orange colored foods like oranges and tangerines

  • Nuts

3. Solar Plexus

The third chakra is the seat of power. It's our ability to be confident and in control of our lives. When this chakra is out of balance, the emotional dysfunctions are fear, guilt and intimidation. When the chakra is in balance, there's a strong sense of trust, self-esteem, responsibility and power or strength.

Healing:

  • Kundalini Yoga: Boat Pose

  • Dancing. Shake those hips!

  • Yellow colored foods like corn

  • Grains and fiber like granola and whole wheat bread

  • Teas like peppermint and chamomile tea

4. Heart Chakra

The fourth chakra is the home of love and compassion. This is the central chakra, where the lower and upper chakras meet. When Anahata is out of balance, feelings of resentment and loneliness exist. When it's in balance, you're at peace with yourself, others and the environment.

Healing:

  • Bikram Yoga

  • Love, love, love. Simply opening up our hearts to others is the best healing exercise to open up the Heart Chakra.

  • Green colored foods like leafy vegetables and spinach

  • Green tea

5. Throat Chakra

The fifth chakra is the center of self-expression. There are 16 petals to represent each of the 16 Sanskrit vowels. When the chakra is out of balance, criticism, bitterness and addiction may be present. When it's in balance, purity of speech, expression and choice are present.

Healing:

  • List 10 adjectives that best describe you.

  • Shoulder stand

  • Singing, chanting

  • Juices and teas

  • All types of fruits

6. 3rd Eye Chakra

The third eye sees the future while the physical eyes see the past and present. This is our center of intuition and wisdom. When the chakra is closed, learning disabilities and untruthfulness may result. Often referred to as “a gut feeling,” when the third eye is open we intuitively find the answers to our own questions. When the relationship of the self and the spirit are heightened, there's great access to inner resources and insight.

Healing:

  • Child's Pose or other types of yoga poses with forward bends

  • Eye exercises

  • Herbal oil treatment

  • Purple colored fruits like grapes and blueberries

  • Chocolate

  • Lavender flavored spices or tea

7. Crown

The last chakra is the highest both physically and spiritually. The individual merges with the whole here creating oneness with the universal life force. When the chakra is blocked, genetic disorders and selfishness may occur. When the chakra is spinning open, one feels spiritually alive and connected.

Healing:

  • Meditation

  • Running or cardio

  • Breathe clean and fresh air

  • Sunshine

#1 Tip: White sage and meditation/visualization is a routine to incorporate in your daily life to find balance and peace. Visualization is a way of channeling your mind’s power to create positive change. While breathing deeply, you can envision yourself wrapped in bright light. White light is perfectly balancing to all chakras, but you can also envision the light in the color of the chakra you want to heal. A guided chakra clearing visualization can also be helpful, especially when you do it on a regular basis. Below you will find a daily guided meditation you can do anytime and anywhere to align your Chakras. Listen with ear buds for the best effect.
